Here's just a small sampling of the singers I have worked with over the years.

Chris baio, vampire weekend

Chris worked with me in 2009/2010. He learned Il Mio Bel Foco, an Italian Aria by Marcello. His musicianship and dedication are inspiring. From Chris, I learned that even today's rock singers benefit from old world bel canto technique. His solo album, The Names is fantastic. Check it out!

Briana Marela

Briana Marela is an amazing singer, songwriter, sound sculptor and producer.  The challenges of going from her bedroom studio to playing in front of thousands include how to keep her angelic, delicate vocals authentic while adding a full drum kit. This shy superstar is a joy to work with!

julia milin

Julia Milin was one of my first students. At the time, she was interested in jazz and pop singing; however, it was immediately apparent that Julia had an exquisite opera instrument. To be a better teacher for her, I started practicing opera technique for three to six hours a day, and auditioned for a small opera company to get an insider's perspective on the demands of the opera stage.  Working with Julia changed my life, and changed my teaching.  She is an amazing opera performer and will no doubt keep gracing the world's stages with her presence and singing.  We often hear of how learning classical technique changes pop singers, but in Julia's case, learning to fall in love with music again made her a better opera singer.  The ease with which she learned to sing jazz allowed her to take a fresh approach with the opera repertoire.  In her case, I helped her get to the next level, and was smart enough at the time to see my limitations as a teacher.  Sometimes we have to know when to let singers go!

CHRISTINA BERNARD

Christina of The Starlight Girls has been studying with me since for more than a decade. She is an übertalented singer, songwriter and pianist. Christina was also on Broadway in Tony and Tina's Wedding. She is unique in that she is a coloratura soprano with a high extension.  Most rock singers have lower voices. Keeping Christina's voice light and pure throughout the demands of recording and touring has been a challenge, yet she is dedicated and talented.
